Braemore Carstens - 'Ankara' Jug, c1960s
Designed by Helmut Scholtis in West Germany in 1964, the Ankara range reflected Turkish influences, and featured a deep teal blue base with metallic glazes. Braemore Carstens collections were produced in Germany and also in Australia under licence. Australian-made pieces feature white clay rather than the German red clay, and include the incised initials of the maker. Each piece was embossed with the design number, in this case BC 1021.
