Ola Höglund art glass vase c1990

$120.00
SOLD

Swedish-born Ola Höglund, son of revolutionary Swedish glassmaker Erik Höglund, was born into a family of glass and ceramic artists. Ola and his wife Marie have spent their careers honing their technical skills and mastering the material.

Ola and Marie Höglund have exhibited in more than 40 international exhibitions, and their work remains highly sought after. After spending time establishing studios in Africa, they settled in New Zealand and in 2000 and 2003 were appointed to create the official art glass for the New Zealand America's Cup team. They also created the art glass for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, and their work has been featured on collectable commemorative postage stamps.

This tall cobalt blue vase is beguilingly simple in its form, with translucent blue glass stretching along its length in varying intensities. The base is deep intense blue, becoming paler and more translucent in the main body, and darkening once again around the neck. The body features delicate swirls of darker blue which draws the eye upwards and accentuates the elegantly long shape.

The base is signed Höglund Glass 1990 NZ
