Alan Fox Iridescent Blue Glass Plate with Gold Lustre Inclusions c1993

$230.00

Master glassmaker Alan Fox earned his place in Australian art-glass history by producing highly innovative glass objects for over four decades from 1974. Fox operated from his Western Australian studio, Fox Studio Glass, and trained several apprentice glassblowers who became renowned in their own right. Fox retired in 2012 and his pieces remain highly regarded. It is rumoured he added Titanium to create his signature iridescent blue pieces, which are especially prized.

This outstanding plate is a particularly stunning early example, in an iridescent deep blue, which visually offers purple, green, and gold on the face, depending on the light. The face of the plate features gold lustred-glass in relief around the rim to create an incredible visual effect.

The base is signed Alan Fox WA 1993.
