Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta - glass bowl c1955
Swedish designer Vicke Lindstrand was a pioneer in the field of glass and ceramics, and he remains one of the key figures in the development of modern art glass. He made his debut as a designer at the Stockholm World Fair in 1930 while working at Orrefors. During his career, both at Orrefors and Kosta Boda, Lindstrand worked with bold colours and abstract motifs. He was the dominant designer at Kosta after joining them in 1950. His work is held in major international museums and private collections and remains highly collectable today.
This gorgeous small asymmetrical bowl features spiralling ribbons of vibrant green, blue and black. The base is engraved ‘Kosta LU 2015’ (LU is a two-letter code indicating it was hand-formed by Lindstrand, and 2015 is a catalogue number for 1955-1956.) It is in excellent vintage condition, with traces of wear typical of its age.
