Netherlands-born Anneke Borren studied fine arts in Christchurch New Zealand. She later worked in the Royal Dutch Delft Factory, and honed her craft by working in Denmark and Sweden. She later trained and worked across the USA, Mid and South Americas, Southern Europe and the UK. She returned to New Zealand where she continued to work and teach. She is a Life Member of the New Zealand Society of Potters, and her work is held in numerous international private and museum collections. in 2022 Anneka was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM).

Anneke has taken the quintessentially Dutch, Delft on-glaze decorative technique and reimagined it for contemporary ceramics. it in a contemporary style.

This superb example is a cuboid lidded jar in the artist’s quintessential modernist style from the mid-1970s. Spirals and circles decorate the jar in brown and blue tones with hints of green. This piece is in excellent vintage condition.
