Livio Seguso Murano Smoky Glass Cat - vintage mid-century Italian art glass c1970s

$590.00

This smoky glass sculpture of a stylized cat was designed by Livio Seguso c1970, and hand-made in partnership with the Graal glass factory.

Livio Seguso b1930 was born into a Venetian glassmaking family, beginning his training as a glassblower at the glass factory of his uncle Alfredo Barbini at age 14. After his training, he moved to Salvati & C as a master glassblower in 1960. Finally in 1969 he founded his own studio, and during the 1970s, he collaborated with the Gral Glaswerkstaetten in Duernau, Germany to create  a series of abstract animal sculptures.

Seguso is one of the few maestros in the lagoon city of Venice to attend to contemporary developments in international studio glass. His glass sculptures are mainly made of clear and coloured glass and feature rounded or elliptical forms.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition and bears the artist’s etched signature on the base.

Please note dimensions carefully as it is often difficult to represent sizes accurately in photographs. Size and weight are factored into shipping costs
