Troika Small Wheel Vase - decorated by Linda Taylor c1970
Troika Pottery was founded in Cornwall 1962 and was named by its three founders Leslie Illsley, Benny Sirota and Jan Thompson, from the Russian тройка, meaning “a set of three”. The factory produced pottery until 1983 and has become one of the most collected forms of modern British pottery, recognisable by its distinctive colours, and incised geometric designs.
Troika pieces were all marked by hand and included the designer’s initials or mark.
Troika’s wheel vases are especially collectable, coming in multiple size variations. This small example is decorated by Linda Taylor, and features an abstract face with typically-Troika geometric designs.
